Bastille Day

Bennion & Deville Fine Homes IncSomething about summer just makes us want to sit at quaint sidewalk cafes and people watch while we sip rose.  Don your stripes and grab your bikes to be a real Francophile for this year’s Bastille Day festivities where Frenchies throughout Seattle will be celebrating the commemorating of the French Revolution with plenty of wine, cheese, music and burlesque.

  • Post Alley’s Café Campagne: Hit the cobblestone streets of Post Alley this weekend for a true Parisian-feeling fête and street party.  For the 20th year, from 4pm till late live music, burlesque dancers, cheap eats and wine stands will line the alley in celebration.
  • Bastille Café in Ballard: On Saturday, July 12th French ballard eatery, Bastille will be hosting a first-come-first-serve pentanque-a-thon (think bocce ball).  Monday they will be featuring a live jazz band and burlesque show.
  • Madison Valley: This family friendly street fair draws the crowds into boutiques and restaurants all the way down Madison for wine tastings, nibbles, and even the occasional Marie Antoinette impersonator. Event is free, food and drink tickets can be purchased here.

Why you should make it? What better excuse in the summer than baguettes and macarons to not count your carbs.

Polish Festival, Seattle Center

  • Saturday & Sunday . July 12 & 13
  • Looking to stay out of this heat?  Join the folks in folk-costumes at Seattle Center for music, dancing, a beer garden, sausages galore and a pierogi eating contest for the brave.
  • Why you should make it?  The pierogi eating contest, of course.

Happy Weekending!

F is for FUN, FOOD, and FETE, so we recommend donning your classic French flair (stripy shirt, mustache?) and celebrating La Fete National; the 1789 storming of the Bastille and the beginning of the end of the monarchy for France, this weekend at one of these pop-up neighborhood celebrations.
